Holiday decorating is fun but there are some safety precautions you should consider.
- Use fire-resistant decorations- check your artificial tree to make sure it is fire-resistant. Do not place decorations near candles or fire.
- Keep your tree fresh– if a real tree is your choice, be sure to keep it fresh. Dry trees are a serious fire danger. Keep your tree at least THREE feet away from a heat source.
- Do not overload extension cords-never plug more than three strands of lights into one extension cord. Always unplug lights when you are not home.
- Do not block exits– make sure exits are clear in the case of a fire.
