May is National Electrical Safety Month! Now is the time to check and double check the main electrical sources in your home as well as the small things we sometimes overlook to avoid fire or shock!
Here are a few tips:
1. Check your outlets. If water is used near and outlet, purchase a waterproof outlet cover and keep it closed when not in use.
2. Examine extension cords. Only use outdoor extension cords outside. Indoor cords cannot withstand outdoor elements. Check the cords for frays and weak spots.
3. Inspect your pool. Have an electrician check your pool or spa before starting summer. Make sure all equipment is safe and in accordance to electrical codes.
